Children’s Council has been working to ensure more people have access to quality, affordable child care and preschool since 1974 (celebrating 50 years in 2024), so many of the first children to benefit from our work are now adult members of society.

Children’s Council has built a reputable, professional network of family child care business owners and educators, caring for our city’s most vulnerable children and making sure San Francisco has a broad range of diverse options for parents to choose from

Children’s Council empowers child care providers to become community anchors in the neighborhoods where they live and work and helps them secure their own financial well-being.

Children's Council boosts our local economy by improving access to childcare. Parents and caregivers are more productive in the workforce, and businesses in our community benefit due to reduced absenteeism and turnover.
