2. When facing a horse owner who denies wrongdoing even though a horse has been clearly neglected, starved or abused, how well could you maintain your professionalism and focus on getting the horse help?

I wouldn’t flinch. I can be focused no matter what.

Seeing a suffering horse would be hard, but I’d be okay.

I’m not sure how I’d act in a situation like that.

I couldn’t do it. I’d be too angry and upset to be professional.

3. How much of the facts behind the abuse or neglect would you need to know before rescuing a horse in critical condition?

I’d need a full run down of the background to know where to begin.

Some information is required to know we’re doing the right things.

Facts are great, but I could begin triage without them.

It doesn’t matter. I’d be focused on helping the horse.

4. Do you know what the Henneke Body Score is and how it’s used to assess the condition of a neglected horse?

I know it well! A score of 1 is considered emaciated and 9 is obese. Horse veterinarians consider a score of 5 to be ideal.

I think it has to do with understanding how malnourished or overweight a horse is.

I know nothing about it and would need training.

5. Horses who come to us through law enforcement seizures need a great deal of help and intensive care. Where would you begin?

Nutrition and hydration always come first.

Medical care must come first. We’d need to get a veterinarian on the scene.

Love. First, last and always.

Not sure. It would depend on the situation.
